GABAdone™ for the Management of Sleep Disorders
Associated with Anxiety
GABAdone™ is a Medical Food formulated to meet the nutritional requirements for inducing sleep, promoting restorative sleep and reducing snoring in patients who are experiencing anxiety related to sleep disorders. GABAdone™ provides the amino acids that are precursors to the neurotransmitters that have been depleted in humans, the neurotransmitters that induce sleep.
Nutritional Deficiency Associated with Sleep Disorders
Patients with sleep disorders experience a nutritional deficiency of tryptophan, choline, and GABA. Patients with these sleep disorders have reduced blood levels of serotonin and 5-hydroxytryptophan. Obese patients use more tryptophan than patients with normal weight and obese patients have an increased incidence of sleep disorders. Reduced calorie diets that are low in protein result in a further fall in blood tryptophan, and exacerbate sleep disorders. There is an alteration of tryptophan metabolism in patients with sleep disorders. Choline deficiency is associated with sleep disorders particularly those associated with sleep apnea syndromes.
GABAdone™ Ingredients: Choline Bitartrate, Glutamic Acid, 5-Hydroxytryptophan, GABA, Grape Seed Extract, Griffonia Extract, Whey Protein, Valerian Extract, Ginkgo Biloba and Cocoa. Supplied in 60 capsule bottles. 12 bottles per case. NDC # 68405-1004-02
Why is GABAdone™ Prescribed?
GABAdone™ provides the nutrients required by the brain to induce and maintain good quality, restorative sleep. GABAdone™ is used as part of a program to manage sleep, mood, anxiety and fatigue. GABAdone™ is used to initiate sleep, maintain deep sleep, and allow the patient to awaken refreshed. GABAdone™ is used to help the patient fall back asleep when awakened during the night. While the benefits of GABAdone™ will occur in the first few doses, the effects of GABAdone™ will permit continued improvement of sleep patterns over the first 60 days of use.
Do not take GABAdone™ with food!
GABAdone™ should be taken with water on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before or after eating.
Take one (1) or two (2) capsules at bedtime to initiate sleep.
Take one (1) or two (2) capsules during the night if awakened and cannot fall back to sleep.
GABAdone™ can be used to taper off prescription sleep medications.
Side Effects: The side effect profile of GABAdone™ is comparable to the rate of food intolerance in the general population. The ingredient components of GABAdone™ are derived from nutrient based compounds found in the normal food chain. When first starting any amino acid therapy, some people complain of mild headaches, stomach upset, or mouth dryness. These symptoms are mild and temporary and can be managed by drinking plenty of fluids and carefully titrating the dose. Rarely, some individuals feel jittery or over-stimulated. These side effects are relieved by lowering the dose. GABAdone™ should not be taken by patients who are receiving MAO inhibitors.
